New milestone achieved: Crisis Averted! Shitty School Systems?

Everyone! I had my last exam yesterday and the results just came out! I remember, my earlier posts were saying about how this class was going to be too hard and I wouldn’t believe that I could pass this class without cheating on the exams. I remember being in the middle of the crisis and even looking up private tutors to help me out.

So, for this final exam, I only needed a 13% to pass the class with a C, and a 63% for a B. I’ve explained how the exams are laid out with multiple choice questions taking up 60% of the test and the other 40% were fill-in-the blanks/free response, and this time with 10 extra multiple choice questions for bonus points for an extra 20%. With this information, I realized I could pass this class without even needing to study because, even if choosing the answers at random, I’d have to get at least 15% correct with the multiple choice, and that's more than needed. Don’t worry, I still studied. I can’t leave chances like those to determine my scholarly fate. One wrong answer can change the 15% to 12%, and I’d only be 1% from passing, and that’d make me go crazy.

When I studied, I only focused on studying for the multiple choice questions of the practice exam. During the exam, I was confident in 21% of the multiple choice questions, and the others, I just made…educated guesses. It was a 2 hour exam. I finished in 30 minutes, and was the first one to leave. My friend (someone who actually knows how to do the problems) said that by the time I left, she had only finished 4 questions.

So, for the long awaited reveal, drum roll please,… I ENDED UP GETTING 45% ON THE TEST! That is literally an F, but it’s more than I expected/needed SO I’LL TAKE THE WIN. I got 76% in the class overall. Oh and for reference, that smart friend ended up getting 97% on the test.

It really makes you think about the grading and school system. My average on all the exams is 53% and they really let me pass this class. Even after working hard in this class, I know almost nothing. Truthfully, I don’t deserve to pass this class. It’s only thanks to the practice exams and my great short-term memory. After summer break, 100%, I’m going to forget everything. The fact that getting a 50% average on all the exams is all that’s needed to pass this class is really frightening. I know for a fact that if I get a job in this profession later, I won’t know a thing. I’d be going in with my head empty. I fear for the future generation. Well that kinda just makes me sound pretentious, so fricking whatever.

I’m glad I passed. After this class, it should be smooth sailing up until I graduate this winter.

TLDR: I passed my exam and this hard class. I really shouldn’t have, but thanks to this broken grading system, I’m moving ahead in my scholarly pursuits.
