Fired From Work and Stuck in America

My flight was supposed to be a week and a half ago and here I am still in America. At this point, the longer it drags out, the less confident I am in this family vacation. The first few days was getting my aunt to see a doctor. We went to the ER first, then had to make an appointment a few days later to see her primary doctor so they can sign that “fit to fly” form, just to find out the doctor that could sign off on that was the completely booked out neurobiologist. The receptionist was able to squeeze us in for a telephone appointment 4 days later, and by then a whole week of our vacation had passed. The neurobiologist was willing to sign off on the papers but we couldn’t pick them up till the next day. After that, now we have to email the form to our bank (cause that's where we booked our plane tickets) so they can forward it to the airline so we can re-book our flight. However, the airline takes 2-5 business days to reply to emails and therefore, just like that 2 weeks of our vacation is gone.

Since the vacation keeps getting pushed back and back, my mother told me to call my job to ask them to extend my vacation for another week. I was a bit hesitant since I’ve barely been working for 3 weeks, yet I’m already asking for 5 weeks of vacation. My sister persisted saying, “Who cares? It’s not even real job anyways.” So I picked up the phone to call them, just to find that the HR lady was in a meeting and the receptionist just took down a message for me. For a few days I didn’t hear anything back, so I figured the receptionist forgot to pass along my message but NOPE. I just got the pleasant call today to find out I’ve been ~dismissed~ effective immediately.

Their reasoning was “substandard work” but who knows. The day before my “vacation” started I did leave work early since I had food poisoning but I doubt they really believed it or cared.

Honestly, maybe it was because a mom called in and wanted me fired. 2 weeks ago, one of the kindergartners (Kid A) was being rowdy during a bathroom break. He’s usually a good kid, but that day he was being a brat. Throughout the whole day he kept getting out of line and following me around. Other days, it seemed he’d taken a liking to me since he would run up to hug me, but he seemed waayyy more clingy that day. I had to repeatedly tell him to go back in line, but he’d just look up back at me and shake his head. That kept happening even when I took some kids out to a bathroom break. I tried reasoning with him, but out of no where during the bathroom break, other kids told me he punched a kid (Kid B) in the balls. Since I didn’t witness it, I asked Kid A if it was true and he replied, “What the hell?” The other kids were shocked that he cussed but then a commotion started happening in one of the bathrooms so I had to turn away for a second. When I turned back, Kid A started chasing Kid B up and down the halls and into the bathroom and under the stalls. I tried asking the other students what happened but they had no idea either. I tried telling them to stop running and trying to block them from each other, but Kid A just pushed me out of the way. I’m not allowed to grab any of the kids, and when they ran into the bathroom, I’m not allowed to go into the boys bathroom. Anyways, I’m able to bring all the kids out back to the field where another staff member was and could help me out, but Kid A was still chasing Kid B. That staff member tried breaking them up too but he didn’t listen so we had to get the assistant manger out to help. She was able to separate them and bring Kid A in to be written up and to call his parents. We kept Kid B outside and asked why he was being chased, but he didn’t seem to know either. Kid A was sent home and the next day, there was an early staff meeting.

The mom of Kid A had come into the company office that morning to complain. Apparently he had Indian burns on his arms and legs. After Kid A had hit Kid B and started chasing him, Kid B ran into the bathrooms to hide in the stalls. Kid A kept trying to get to Kid B for some reason, and Kid B fought back in the bathrooms by giving him Indian burns. I didn’t know what happened since that all occurred in the boys bathroom, but even when I tried to question both Kid A and Kid B, none of them told me anything. That morning after that, the mom discovered the marks and she went to the police station to file a report before heading to the company office. Anyways, the mom made a big commotion saying her son felt threatened and terrified by one of the staff members. Her son didn’t remember the name of the staff member but described them as short (not me), short brown hair (not me), tattoos (not me), doesn’t wear glasses (me), and Asian (I’m the only Asian staff member). Kid A told his mom that the staff member told him to, “Go away and shut up.” EXCUSE ME?? Okay I told him to go back in line when he kept following me around and I told the class to quiet down but ‘Go away and shut up’ ????? At this point, if I knew there was gonna be big drama like this, I wish I really would’ve just told that kid to go away and shut up. The mom was also saying that the staff member was inattentive and demanded them (me) to be fired. So…. she wants me to go into the boys bathroom while they’re peeing? That seems so fucking amazing and such a great idea and definitely not like a police arrest waiting to happen. All my coworkers, managers, and assistant mangers defended me cause I literally don’t do anything to the kids. I can barely yell at them and all I do is just stand and watch. I try to discipline the kids as best as I can, but it's pretty fucking difficult when its only been your second week there with 100+ fresh faces and names to remember.

So maybe that’s why I got fired or maybe it was because I was too greedy with my vacations or maybe it’s a mix of both. Well that’s one job down. I’m thinking of maybe becoming a hotel receptionist or a hotel maid. I’m not sure which seems better. A hotel receptionist does almost no physical work but I need to talk to hella people. A hotel maid is physically taxing and disgusting but I get to work alone in silence. What do you think? (Okay being completely honest, my first thought was prostitute/escort, but that kinda got knocked off the table quick due to my lack of skills.)

TLDR; to the person that keeps praying on my downfall, can you give me a break?
