The Beauty of Coincidences
I saw the room on Friday, and this Monday I went back down to give the lady my deposit. Originally it was supposed to be $650, but I talked her down to $600 saying I’d wash my clothes back at my parents on the weekends instead. I have yet to sign the actual lease which is concerning since she took my cash. Both of the times I came, I didn’t see the other guy that was renting out a room there. Supposedly he works in the medical field but has graveyard-shifts, so with my normal 9-5, I should basically never run into him nor have conflicting bathroom schedules with him.
In my small rural town, I always kept running into my ex, my ex’s family, or my ex’s friends in some way or another. Thankfully, this is finally my way to break free of the nauseating curse! OR SO I THOUGHT. In this vast sea for all 50 states, or even just the towns in my state, he had to move to the exact same city????? How did I find this out? LinkedIn profile stalking. I wanted peace of mind knowing I’d be finally break free (and I was competitive and wanted to see if I would be making more than him), but nope because the universe loves poking fun at me.
In the back of my mind I was scared this mystery roommate might be him, but that’s too much like some sitcom. No way the universe would do that to me right? RIGHT?? The homeowner told the roommate was Filipino (same as him), works in the medical field (same as him), has a Vietnamese girlfriend (I have no idea about my ex’s relationship status but he also did date me, a Vietnamese girl), and his name is Roomie (fake name and not even close to my ex’s name). I should be good. RIGHT?
Well, won’t know till I move in. Should be the very first of September. I’m happy to leave. OH I FORGOT TO SAAAY. The room looks like a prison. Tiny. I brought a tape measure when I came to check out the room; 115 inches by 110 inches. It had on (new) full mattress on the bare floor with a 30 inch wide desk by its side before it hit the closet. But no other place in the area can beat that price so I’ll make the best on my situation.
TLDR: nice room, maybe less nice roommate.
