Dreams are Crushed and the World Reverts Back to It’s Shitty Self
I was so excited to finally move out of this house. It’s still happening…just not as I’d hoped. My dad had to back out of our moving plan. Rent was going to be $2700 and he’d help out with $700. Until he found out he’s basically dirt broke and will have to continue living in that hell house. Although with such sad news, I refuse to let my dreams fail without a fight. That apartment/condo is completely out of the question now. Technically, I CAN afford it with my new pay, but I’d have no more money for food, water, basic other living necessities… Lucky for me, Gretchen has a connection with someone in the city that is in search of a roommate. There’s a family that rents out their extra rooms and one room had recently become available. It’s a Vietnamese family (so that’s a win) and because of their lack of English, they have their high school daughter communicate with the possible renters. It’s only $650. Doable for sure. This Friday, I’m supposed to go down and check it out for myself. I think regardless of how big or small the room is, I’d still take it. I’ve searched up other rent rooms in the same area and it’s all $1200+. Oh and I’d be sharing a bathroom with the other tenant. It’s a guy. I don’t know how old he is but apparently I’ve been told that he’s ugly and has a girlfriend. There goes my roommates-to-lovers storyline.
I’m equally as broke as my dad. I possibly have 2 more months MAX, until I go into debt. Technically I’m already in debt (student loans) but I don’t want to hit any reds in credit card. So far, I’ve applied to be a hotel room keeper (basically maid) to 2-3 different places, a cashier at my old grocery store (but different location because I’d be too embarrassed to see my coworkers again), and to be a gas station attendant. My friend laughed at me and asked why I was applying for such oddball jobs and not something like Target or Starbucks, but I just think the experiences would be new and fun. One of the hotels had a job interview for me the very next day at nine in the morning. I showed up on time but the hiring person did not. Even the interviewees that were scheduled for 8:30 haven’t been seen. We wait in the lobby together in silence for another 30 minutes before being directed into another room by the late-coming personnel. Brief but insincere apologies were given. It was supposed to be a 30 minute interview, but mine only lasted 5. They took us separately into different rooms and immediately handed me a form to start filling out. The lady explained to me what the job entails in a quick 3 minutes. A small room should be done with 30 minutes and is worth 30 credits, bigger rooms can be done in 50 minutes and are worth 50 credits, and a full day’s worth of work should conclude with a target of 320 credits. She asked me if I had any questions and after answering just 1, she already stands up ready to shoo me out the door and bring in the next interviewee. I didn’t get a call back. How interesting…
TLDR: I’m broke with no where to live (at least until further notice).
